Frequently Asked Questions
I've never been to therapy before. What should I expect?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to therapy. We'll talk about your goals and any questions or concerns you may have. Together we'll decide on a plan that makes sense for you. Therapy is collaborative—you never have to share more than you're ready to.
How long does therapy take?
The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and the challenges you're facing. Some people come for a few months to focus on a specific issue, while others find benefit in longer‑term therapy. We'll regularly review your goals and adjust as needed to ensure therapy continues to feel helpful.
Do you offer telehealth sessions?
Yes. I offer secure video sessions in addition to in‑person appointments. Telehealth allows us to work together if you're unable to come to the office or live in one of the 42 PSYPACT states where I'm authorized to practice.
Do you accept insurance?
I'm an out‑of‑network provider. Many clients are able to use their out‑of‑network benefits to receive partial reimbursement for therapy. I will provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company. Please contact your insurance provider directly to inquire about your out‑of‑network benefits.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can request a consultation through the contact page or by calling me at (847) 436‑3234. Existing clients can schedule appointments directly through the patient portal.
What if I'm not sure therapy is right for me?
It's normal to have doubts about starting therapy. I'm happy to answer any questions you have during an initial consultation. We can discuss what you're hoping to gain from therapy and whether my approach feels like a good fit.
